Royal Castle
Plac Zamkowy 4 · top of the Old Town
The seat of Polish kings, levelled in 1944 and rebuilt brick-by-brick from paintings and rubble — so every gilded room is both a restoration and a quiet act of defiance. The Canaletto Room alone is worth the ticket; its cityscapes were the blueprint for rebuilding Warsaw itself.
Open Tue–Sun 10:00–18:00 · closed Mon
The catch: Sunday is free for the permanent route, so the queues are brutal — go Tuesday morning if you can.
